Horse-Power™ Taq DNA Polymerase

Horse-Power™ Taq DNA Polymerase is High-purity thermostable Taq polymerase for reliable, high-yield PCR amplification.

Horse-Power™ Taq DNA Polymerase is a versatile, thermostable, recombinant enzyme designed for routine PCR applications.
Produced in a genetically engineered E. coli strain expressing the Thermus aquaticus DNA polymerase I gene, the enzyme provides high activity, exceptional purity, and proven thermostability.

It exhibits 5’→3’ polymerase and weak 5’→3’ exonuclease activity, but lacks 3’→5’ exonuclease (proofreading) function.
This makes it ideal for standard amplifications and TA-cloning workflows.

FAQs

1. What is Taq DNA Polymerase used for?
Taq DNA Polymerase is widely used for PCR amplification of DNA. It enables applications such as cloning, genotyping, colony PCR, and routine DNA amplification in molecular biology workflows.

2. Does Taq DNA Polymerase have proofreading activity?
No, standard Taq DNA Polymerase lacks 3’→5’ exonuclease (proofreading) activity. This means it has a higher error rate compared to high-fidelity polymerases, but it provides robust and efficient amplification.

3. How long DNA fragments can Taq DNA Polymerase amplify?
Taq DNA Polymerase is typically suitable for amplifying DNA fragments up to 3–5 kb. For longer or more complex targets, a high-fidelity or long-range DNA polymerase is recommended.

1 review for Horse-Power™ Taq DNA Polymerase

    1. Lucas Morales

We’ve been using Horse-Power™ Taq DNA Polymerase for routine PCR for several months and the performance has been very consistent. Amplifications are clean and reproducible across different templates, even under standard cycling conditions. It works reliably straight out of the box and compares very well with more expensive alternatives. Overall, a solid and cost-effective enzyme that we trust for daily PCR work in the lab.
