Applications

This product is designated as Molecular Biology Grade and is suitable for molecular biology applications such as:

  • PCR and cDNA library amplification.

  • DNA sequencing workflows.

  • Cryopreservation of cell lines and bacteriophages (as sterile solution).

  • Solvent in organic and molecular biology reactions.

DMSO is also widely utilized in the storage of  cell lines and bacteriophage λ as a cryoprotective agent, but only as a sterile solution. To prepare sterile solutions use a teflon or nylon membrane to sterile-filter the DMSO – do not use a cellulose acetate membrane.

Tables & Figures

Quality Control
  • Tested for DNase, RNase, phosphatase, and protease contamination.

  • Lot-to-lot reproducibility validated.

Advice
  • To prepare sterile DMSO, filter with nylon or PTFE membranes (not cellulose acetate).

  • Warm gently if solidified at low temperatures.

Storage, Shipping & Guarantee
  • Shipped at: Ambient Temperature.
  • Storage: Room Temperature. DMSO can solidify easily and may remain solid at cooler temperatures. Gently warm it to return it to its liquid state.
